This course, taught at the National University of Colombia in Bogotá through the Faculty of Arts (Continuing Education), set out to explore photography as an artistic tool beyond its traditional role as a means of documentation. It was aimed at artists and experimental photographers with basic prior knowledge, and focused on using photography to represent specific realities, turning the practice into an experimental medium open to the creative manipulation of images.
The aim of the course was to give participants the knowledge needed to use photography as an instrument of artistic expression, challenging its traditional role as mere documentation. Students were encouraged to experiment with unconventional techniques and to find new ways of manipulating and reinterpreting photographic images to express ideas and realities in a unique way.
The course offered participants a platform to broaden their understanding of photography not only as a technical form but also as a conceptual tool capable of transforming the viewer’s perception through experimental methods, in tune with contemporary trends in the visual arts.
