The art term readymade can be understood as remade, reworked, and conceptually also as a new interpretation of the same idea. It emerged around 1917 and was promoted and named for the first time by the artist Marcel Duchamp.

The basic concept of the readymade is to take an original work of art out of context, moving the original idea into a new field of action: another artist interprets the work and gives it a different context in which a new proposal is created.

These series of photographic readymades are artistic in nature, and their main aim is to reinterpret existing artworks from all the different art forms: literature, photography and painting. These works have significantly influenced and shaped this proposal.

Part of the main idea is to keep small particularities of the original source, which give both the author and the viewer a sense of it — although transformed and reconfigured, they speak of a reinterpretation.

Each readymade was made according to the situation of the moment. “David’s Banded Ear” was made because I had ear surgery; although each author’s circumstances are different, I found it fitting to recreate and reinterpret this artistic icon through both analogue and digital photographic processes.
